CURIOSITIES ABOUT THIS MODAL!

Law 11.442 / 2007 regulated the Road Transport of Trucks (TRC) in the country. This law repealed Law 6,813 of July 10, 1980 and provides for the CRT performed on public roads in the national territory, on behalf of third parties and for remuneration, the mechanisms of its operation and the responsibility of the carrier.

In Resolution 210 of 2006, the National Traffic Council (Contran) establishes that the authorized dimensions for vehicles, with or without load, are the following:

  • Maximum width: 2.60m;
  • Maximum height: 4.40m;
  • Total length for single or non-articulated vehicles: maximum 14.00 meters;
  • Length for articulated vehicles with two units, of the truck-tractor type and semi-trailer: maximum of 18.60 meters;
  • Length for articulated vehicles with two truck-type units with trailer: maximum of 19.80 meters;
  • Length for articulated vehicles with more than two units: maximum of 19.80 meters.

Multimodal Cargo Transport is one that uses two or more modalities of transport, is carried out under the sole responsibility of a Multimodal Transport Operator (OTM) and is governed by a single contract.

The OTM is defined as the legal entity, carrier or not, contracted as main for the realization of the Multimodal Carriage of Loads, from origin to destination, by own means or through third parties. This operator assumes responsibility for the execution of these contracts, for losses resulting from loss, damage or damage to the cargoes in their custody, as well as those arising from delay in delivery, when there is an agreed term.

Its activities include, in addition to transportation, collection, unitization, unbundling, consolidation, deconsolidation, handling, storage and delivery of the cargo to the recipient.
