Long distance navigation : navigation between Brazilian and foreign ports;

Inland navigation: is that carried out on inland waterways, on a national or international route;

Navigation of maritime support: it is carried out for the logistical support of vessels and installations in national territorial waters and in the Economic Zone, which act in the activities of research and mining of minerals and hydrocarbons.

Port support navigation: carried out exclusively in ports and waterway terminals, to serve vessels and port facilities.
