A product exported by Brazil helps people around the world to mitigate the effects of the pandemic.
Despite the Covid-19 pandemic and its respective impacts on the global economy, with the adoption of preventive measures in several countries, the exports of Cafés do Brasil in 2020 reached the highest volume in its history, with the equivalent of 44.5 million bags of 60kg coffee, added to green, soluble and roasted & ground coffee, which represented an increase of 9.4% in relation to Brazilian coffee exports in 2019.
Of this total, 79.7% were arabica coffee, 11.1% conilon and 9.2% industrialized coffee. Of the total of Cafés do Brasil exported in 2020, industrialized coffees were responsible for the volume equivalent to 4.1 million bags, an increase of 2.3% in relation to 2019. Green coffee exports reached 40.4 million bags , an increase of 10.2% in relation to 2019.
Among green coffee exports, arabica was responsible for the sale abroad of 35.5 million bags, a volume that represented an increase of 8.4% in relation to 2019 and the annual historical record for exports of this variety. Conilon coffee had 4.9 million bags exported in the year, which represented an increase of 24.3% in relation to last year, in addition to being the largest volume ever recorded in one year in exports of this species.
The foreign exchange revenue generated by the exports of Cafés do Brasil in 2020 was US $ 5.6 billion, up 10.3% compared to 2019. When converting to the national currency the value of the revenue reaches R $ 29 billion, an 44.1% growth in the same comparative terms.
Said revenue in reais was equivalent to 5.6% of the total generated from Brazilian agribusiness exports and 2.7% of all sales abroad in the year.
