Brazil tries to enable sales to China; Mato Grosso in expectation.
Whether meat or corn, the information is well received in the state, which has the largest herd of cattle in the country.
Brazil’s agricultural attaché in China, Jean Manfredini, highlighted, during the webinar “Challenges and prospects for the meat chain: Asian and European market”, promoted by the Brazilian Association of Pig Breeders (ABCS), that the country is trying to diversify even more the export basket, negotiating with Chinese authorities a license to sell corn, as well as other products.
“A major concern, and also, one of the main challenges is to try to sell products with higher added value to the Chinese,” he said.
Jean said that there have been some advances in this regard recently, with the sale of dairy products, soy meal and processed meats to China.
“We are working to increase this product range. But for this, marketing work is also necessary to understand what the Chinese consumer really wants to buy ”, he points out.
Whether meat or corn, the information is well received in Mato Grosso, a state that has the largest herd of cattle in the country – about 30 million head – and offers the largest national volume of corn and soybeans.

Data from the Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex), from the Ministry of Economy, show that of the global turnover of Mato Grosso this semester, US $ 9.65 billion, of which US $ 9.52 billion were generated exclusively by agribusiness products.
In addition to the soy complex, meat and cotton had a significant share in the composition of the revenue, with a share of 9.48% and 9.41%, respectively.
