Brazilian exports to China almost exceed foreign sales to the USA by almost 5 times

Between January and June of this year, China was the final destination of 33.8% of all Brazilian exports, a record percentage never reached by a Brazilian trading partner in isolation since the historical series began to be surveyed by the responsible agencies by the Brazilian foreign trade.

In the period, shipments to the Chinese totaled US $ 34.351 billion, an increase of 14.6% compared to the same period in 2019. Imports of Chinese products, corresponding to 12% of total purchases from Brazil, totaled US $ 16.695 billion. In six months, the Sino-Brazilian trade balance resulted in a surplus of US $ 17.659 billion in favor of Brazil.

To have an idea of ​​this data, the second main destination of Brazilian exports in the period, the United States, absorbed only 8.5% of the total volume shipped by Brazilian companies abroad.

In terms of values, exports to China in June totaled US$ 7.370 billion (daily average of US$ 351 million), against a total of US$ 5.713 billion (average of US$ 300.7 million per day) registered in the same month in 2019. On the other hand, exports to the United States totaled US$ 1.517 billion (daily average of US$ 72 million), against US$ 2.429 billion (daily average of US$ 127.8 million) in June of the last year.

In the accumulated January-June, Brazil exported goods to China totaling US$ 35.848 billion (daily average of US$ 291.4 billion), corresponding to 35% of total Brazilian exports in the first half of the year. In 2019, from January to June, sales to the Chinese totaled US$ 31.202 billion (daily average of US$ 253.7 billion), equivalent to a percentage of 28.5% of total Brazilian exports.
