Foreign sales of chicken meat grew 1.3% in volume but revenue fell 12.1% until September.

Brazilian chicken meat exports (considering all products, between fresh and processed) totaled 3.178 million tons between January and September, a number that surpasses the performance registered in the same period of 2019, with 3.137 million tons. tons, informs the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA).

In the same period, the accumulated revenue by the sector reached US $ 4.619 billion, 12.1% less than in the same period of 2019, with US $ 5.253 billion.

Considering only the month of September, the sector’s exports totaled 345 thousand tons, 2.3% less than in the ninth month of 2019, with 353.2 thousand tons. In the same comparative period, shipment revenue totaled $ 479 million in 2020, down 18.4% from the $ 587.2 million obtained in September 2019.

“The average of exports registered in this second semester is above that obtained in the same period in 2019, an indication that sales will remain positive. This, without impacting the offer of products to the Brazilian consumer, which also increased this year ”, says Ricardo Santin, president of ABPA.

Main destination, imports from China remain high in 2020, with 514.1 thousand tons between January and September (+ 28% in relation to 2019). Sales to Libya, with 46.1 thousand tons (+ 79%), Jordan, with 46.2 thousand tons (+ 35%), Russia, with 63.5 thousand tons (+ 47%), Singapore, with 98.4 thousand tons (+ 39%), Vietnam, with 37.3 thousand tons (+ 105%) and South Korea, with 98.5 thousand tons (+ 7%).

Considering only September sales, exports to South Africa, with 23 thousand tons (+ 38% compared to September 2019), Yemen, with 11 thousand tons (+ 73%), United Arab Emirates, with 25.9 thousand tons (+ 11%), European Union, with 21.2 thousand tons (+ 15%).
