Learn more about bonded areas and the difference between each area
Decree 6,759 / 2009, of the Federal Government, defines bonded areas as areas where it is possible to carry out, store and dispatch goods imported or for export, always under customs control. These enclosures are divided into primary and secondary zones. Understand each one better!
The Primary Zone consists of the entire area demarcated by the local customs authority, which has jurisdiction over a vehicle entry or exit point, which may be an airport, port or border crossing.
Meanwhile, the Secondary Zone comprises the remainder of the customs territory, including territorial waters and airspace, such as customs or federal revenue inspectorates or revenue departments with customs control sectors.
Both are used for the release of imports and exports. However, many companies end up releasing their cargo in secondary areas, which become viable, inexpensive alternatives and improve competitiveness for Brazilian companies.
