Importation is the commercial and fiscal process that consists of bringing a good, which can be a product or service, from abroad to the country of reference. Brazil is the 29th largest importer in the world, according to 2018 data from the MDIC. Check out which Brazilian states imported the most between January and September this year and which are the products we most bought from other nations in 2019! 

  • 1. São Paulo: with a 33.6% share of imports;
  • 2. Rio de Janeiro: with a 12.3% share of imports;
  • 3. Santa Catarina: with 9.4% share of imports;
  • 4. Paraná: with a 7.2% share of imports;
  • 5. Amazonas: with a 5.9% share of imports;
  • 6. Rio Grande do Sul: with 5.6% share of imports;
  • 7. Minas Gerais: with 4.9% share of imports;
  • 8. Bahia: with 4% share of imports;
  • 9. Espírito Santo: with a 3.4% share of imports;
  • 10. Pernambuco: with a 2.9% share of imports.

The products most imported by Brazil, between January and September this year, were: 

  • 1. Other manufactured products
  • 2. Medicines for human and veterinary medicine;
  • 3. Fuel oils (diesel oil, fuel oil, etc.);
  • 4. Parts and pieces for motor vehicles and tractors;
  • 5. Integrated circuits and electronic microassemblies.
